Cosmetologists and other beauty specialists, such as hairstylists, estheticians and manicurists, provide services to help people look and feel their best.
Now is the time to launch a beauty career. The beauty industry is experiencing incredible growth right now, due especially to baby boomers’ increasing desire for specialized beauty services such as hair coloring and other treatments. A general population increase is also driving the demand for beauty services, creating expectations that the industry will grow faster than average through 2018.
After completing their beauty education, graduates of a beauty school can pursue careers as a cosmetologist, hairstylist, manicurist or other beauty specialist.
As they gain experience after schooling, many cosmetologists earn higher wages by managing the salon or office they work in, and through hard work and perseverance may eventually open their own business. Many experienced graduates from beauty colleges go on to teach at beauty schools as they continue to work in salons.
